Now Playing: Theophilus London

Now Playing: Theophilus London-I Want You

Theophilus London is a unique alternative rap artist from Brooklyn, NY. His genre-bending approach draws from a range of styles, from soul-pop and post-punk to electro and contemporary R&B. Citing influences that include Michael Jackson and Prince as well as Kraftwerk and the Smiths, he began working with the New York City-based label Normrex in 2007. He made his label debut with a couple mixtapes, Jam! (2008) and This Charming Mixtape (2009), which circulated freely in the music blogopshere. London made his album debut in 2009 with This Charming Man, a stylistically wide-ranging full-length effort featuring an eclectic cast of vocal guests and production work by Normrex beatmakers Machinedrum, Jimmy Edgar, and Letherette. Jason Birchmeier, Rovi. London's recent mixtape I Want You (2011) which recently hit the airwaves several weeks ago is AWESOME. Many people have never even heard of Mr. London, but I am here to attest that he is magnificent lyricist and a ace when it comes to creativity. (Bio excerpt used from starpulse.com)

Shea Moisture & Deana's Earrings :)

So, the other day I was in a massive rush to get to work and I had to figure out something to do with my hair....QUICK!! I recently went to Target and bought a tub of Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie, which I intended to use for my micro two strand twist, but I had to change the original plan! After falling asleep and getting up late with just a few minutes to spare, I quickly sectioned my hair and began to apply the "smoothie" :) After finger combing and using about two quarter sized amounts and a small amount of water, I immediately fell in love! My hair was so curly! I initially got a little scared because I knew it would have a slightly different look after it dried, but my negative thoughts were eased after a 12 hour work day and AWESOME hair!! I truly recommend this product!! I know now that  I can use it for my twist and for other styles, and you can too! :)

O yea, Deana's earrings!! I absolutely LOVE these (I have a teal pair too!)
After watching a YouTube video of ToniDaley80 (PUH-LEASE check her out!! lol), I knew I had to have them!! Deana has a wonderful selection of jewelry and scarves that are sure to compliment your look!!
Please visit her website, I'm absolutely sure you will find something you cannot live without! :) <3 I've provided a link below so you don't have to search for it! lol ;)

NYC Abortion Ad-Too Much??

An extremely tall billboard, about 3 stories in height, has been deliberately placed at one of the busiest intersections of Watts and 6th Ave.

"The most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb," reads the ad sponsored by the Dallas-based pro-life group "Life Always".

It features an African-American girl looking out at viewers with a somber expression, wearing a bow in her hair and a pink jumper. The ad directs viewers to the group's website, thatsabortion.com.

Life Always leader, Pastor Stephen Broden, an African-American, said that his group intentionally released a billboard that would elicit such a outlandish reaction.

"The black community is oblivious to what is going on with this practice," Broden, 58, said about abortion rates in the African-American community.

"This is far from hyperbole, these are facts and statistically back up that abortion is having an impact on the demography of African-Americans," he said.

According to New York City's latest Vital Statistics report with data from 2009, two out of five pregnancies in New York City end in an abortion, giving the city an overall abortion rate of 41 percent.

Among the African American women in New York City, the abortion rate is reportedly 59.8 percent, while the abortion rate for Hispanic women is 41.3 percent and the rate for white women is 20.4 percent. The rate for abortions among Asian women in New York is 22.7 percent.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn both criticized the ad, with de Blasio calling for it to come down.

"To refer to a woman's legal right to an abortion as a 'genocidal plot' is not only absurd, but it is offensive to women and to communities of color," Quinn wrote in a statement of Broden's claim that the high abortion rates among minority women amounted to genocide.

Mae Collazo, 38, who works across the street from the abortion billboard, said she perceived the billboard highly offensive.

"I don't like it all, what is that supposed to mean?" said Collazo, who is African American, "It makes it sound like all we do is abort our children."

Collazo added that she didn't think the higher percentage of abortions registered for African American women in New York necessarily reflect what is actually going on in the community, and questioned the source of the statistics and whether abortions conducted at private clinics are included in the statistics.

Broden said his organization will remain in the city for another three weeks before kicking off similar ad campaigns in six other cities around the country.

I've actually learned that there are viewers that have agreed with the billboard & it's placement. I'm kind of on the fence with it though; only because I can see the point that was trying to be made. I honestly believe that the message was delivered in such a blatant and disrespectful way that everyone is perceiving it in a negative sense.

But my real question is, what do YOU think? I'd love to know!!

Golden Sea Side Sweepin'

So, I did my hair a few days ago & I'm JUST getting a chance to really show it off! I really wish I would've tried to do my hair like this sooner! I absolutely LOVE it! :) This will be my official "side sweep"!

I acheived this style by first doing two, two strand flat twist on the right side of my head. Just to keep the ride side manageable and give it the "swept over" look :) With the rest of the hair, on the left, I jumbo two strand twisted using the following products:

 Extra Virgin Olive Oil
 My Water & Glycerin Mixture
Olive Oil Gel
Coconut Oil

My hair was so soft and moved freely all throughout the day!! I LOVE IT!

 Golden Sea:

Each & everytime I do one of my striking makeup looks, I will give it a memorable name to refer back to; here's my first!

Golden Sea was achieved starting with Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion and NYX's Milk Jumbo Eye Pencil under the brow. I then used Ulta's Stardust on the inner portion & inner canthus of the eyelid to give my eyes, what i'd like to call, "my angelic look." lol I then used MAC's Amber Lights on the outer portion of the eyelid and Ulta's Toast on the upper portion of the eyelid. To finish off the look I using Ulta's Key West underneath the eye. It looked a little messy at first so I used a q-tip with a bit of makeup remover  to give it a more sharpened look.
